‘Buzz’ is Google’s second attempt to become a major player in the social networking community along with players like facebook and Twitter. The first attempt was Google Wave, which has kind of died before it even got started.
Google Buzz is a lot like Twitter with big similarities to Friendfeed as well.
Here are some of the features of Google Buzz:
- There is no limit to the length of your messages
- You can give messages ratings
- You can forward messages by email
- Comments and replies to a post remain together in a conversation
- You can link to Flickr, PIcasa, YouTube
Downsides
Google Buzz is fairly complex compared to Twitter. People who you don’t even follow can pick up on a conversation and start commenting – meaning you’ll get messages from them (annoying). Messages that Google thinks are not important can get sent to the bottom of the list even though they might be important to you. GPS enable iphone and Androids can detect when other Buzz users are nearby – scary.
