When Backlinking Annoys Other People

by Wynne Pirini

So you want your website to rank in the top 3 positions for your selected keywords right? Join the club, we all have our reasons for doing so but it generally boils down to the fact that we eventually make money online from it.

There are tons of tools out there that promise to build a ga-zillion backlinks for you, all on autopilot whilst you do nothing but play youR PS3 all day or walk the dog or whatever it is you have to do.

But the truth is that any mass automation tool is open to heavy abuse. Think of SENuke or Book Marking Demon or WPBot or WordPress comment bot. All of these tools rip the crap out of websites and cause their owners no end of frustration.

Anyway, what got me on this track was a post by this blogger here (lamest ways to build backlinks). I generally agree with him, apart from the blog commenting post. I think that as long as there is some value given to the blog owner, your blog post should be welcomed. Why?

  • comments (even spammy ones – but not porn, casino, hate etc) have a positive impact on ranking your page
  • comments build interest quickly, especially if shared on social networks using comment plugins like DISQUS
